The mission of Veterans Recovery Resources is to accelerate Veteran well-being by removing the barriers to mental health care and providing a unique recovery program for Veterans, their families and caregivers suffering from substance abuse, post-traumatic stress and other mental health issues.
We are currently offering primary medical, individual psychotherapy and counseling, group therapy, physical and occupational therapies and 12-step groups at our clinic located at 1156 Springhill Avenue in mid-town Mobile, Alabama.
Our model is based on Veterans helping other Veterans. By providing a Veteran Peer Specialist contact even before the first appointment, we believe those struggling garner hope when they connect with someone who understands and work with a contact who will be there with them along every step of the journey and beyond.
We use an inter-disciplinary approach to whole health because the link between medical health and mental health is well documented. Our medical team helps ensure Veterans are not overprescribed conflicting medications and offers alternative methods for chronic pain management, including physical and occupational therapies. Our team of psychologists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, social workers and family counselors works with each individual to establish a personal plan of care, according to their values and goals. Veterans Recovery Resources offers a comprehensive continuum of care, combining physical and mental health that leads Veterans back to the productive lives they seek.
As part of our program, we organize community service activities and healthy, fun events for individuals, groups and families to enjoy together. We believe that finding connection and a renewed purpose is central to recovery. Together, our program helps Veterans improve the quality of their relationships while learning to practice greater self-care. Collectively, this is how we will achieve our vision of a healthy community of Veterans and their families who contribute to the economy and support each other over a lifetime.
One of the biggest gaps in our community is Veteran-specific residential care for substance abuse and co-occuring issues. In the future, Veterans Recovery Resources will offer a residential program, followed by a complementary after care program, on our permanent campus located at 1200 Springhill Avenue in mid-town Mobile, Alabama.
