John has a bold vision to change how Veterans can return to normal lives after combat. With 32 years’ military service, including 12 years as an intelligence analyst in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, 20 years as a Medical Service Corps Officer in the U.S. Army Reserve, and four deployments, he has experienced first-hand the challenges service members and their families can face returning to civilian life. He founded Veterans Recovery Resources to offer a new approach for those needing support. In 2016, John was awarded the Order of Military Medical Merit by the Army Medical Department for his outstanding character and service. Amanda Hayes – CAO, Marketing & Communications
Amanda has 30 years of marketing strategy, communications and program management experience in the consulting services, technology start-up and non-profit industries. She spent 18 years working and contracting with Accenture in London, Toronto and the U.S. and is currently a co-owner of MFH Consulting in Atlanta, Georgia. Amanda holds a Masters in International Management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management. She is passionate about raising awareness of the issues facing our Veteran community across the nation, all of whom have so selflessly served our country.
Joshua Moore – Veteran Relations & Operations
Josh served eight years as a Combat Engineer in the U.S. Marine Corps, achieving the rank of Sergeant and completing three combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. He is currently the Commandant/President of the Marine Corps League Sgt. Foster L Harrington Detachment #1449 and a Volunteer Research Assistant at the University of South Alabama (USA) Trauma Reactions and Interpersonal Loss Lab. Josh earned his B.S. in Psychology with a Minor in Criminal Justice from USA and is now pursuing his Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
Jason “Jay” Watkins – Military Family Advocate & Outside Counsel
Jay is a partner at O’Hara Watkins and active in a number of civic and charitable organizations in the Mobile community. Prior to co-founding O’Hara Watkins, Jay was a partner at Jones Walker in Business Litigation. Jay was a law clerk to Judge Randolph Baxter of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Ohio and a partner at Ball, Ball, Matthews & Novak. Vaughan Drinkard – Non-Profit Advisor
Vaughan (retired) has led a distinguished career as an attorney and litigator in Alabama. With over 60 years of experience spanning many areas of the law, he has dedicated much of his time in retirement to advising non-profit organizations.
Ron has served over 30 years in the military, earning the Bronze Star twice for his service in Iraq (2005) and Afghanistan (2013). He has experience in military medical logistics, medical operations, and is certified as a Judge Advocate. Currently, he serves as the Regional Defense Counsel for the Southeast Region of the Army National Guard. Ron was instrumental in establishing the first Veterans Court in Mobile County to help address the issues of how combat experience and PSTD relate to criminal behavior and how to treat those veterans in a way to help them return to productive lives. He also runs his own private legal practice, McBay Law LLC and has practiced law for over 16 years. Ron and his wife Julianne reside in Mobile, Alabama with their children. Learn more.
Todd Greer – Organizational Leadership
Todd advises Veterans Recovery Resources on organizational structure, donor relations, and business planning. He currently serves as Dean at the University of Mobile School of Business. With over 15 years’ experience across a range of non-profit organizations, Todd is an advisor to multiple non-profits in organizational development and serves as a Board member at the United Way of South Alabama and the Innovation PortAL in Mobile, Alabama. He is the Co-Founder and Chief Catalyst for the Exchange 202. Todd has a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership/Human Resource Development from Regent University.
Tina Stewart – Military Family Advocate & Accountant
Tina is a CPA and manager with Carr, Riggs & Ingram, LLC. Prior to that, she worked at Smith, Dukes & Buckalew. Tina specializes in government and non-profit public accounting. She is qualified under Government Auditing Standards and has Uniform Guidance audit experience. Tina received her B.S. in Accounting and B.S. in Mathematics from the University of New Orleans. As a military spouse, Tina is passionate about supporting military families and understands the challenges they face. Her husband, Jimmy, serves in the U.S. Coast Guard and served in the U.S. Army prior to that. They live in Mobile, AL with their four children.
Chris Goldschmidt – Brand Strategy & Advertising
Chris has over 30 years of experience helping both profit and non-profit organizations succeed with his strategic approach to marketing, award-winning advertising and brand building. While his work has been featured in AdWeek, Millimeter, and Print Magazine his passion lies in helping clients achieve objectives in new and innovative ways. Chris is president of the Forte Marketing Group in Birmingham, Alabama.
