Col Jerry Steele, USMCR (Ret)

President

Jerry served 27 years in the military and retired as a Colonel in the United Stated Marine Corps Reserve. His collateral duties included logistics officer, fiscal budget officer, safety officer, drug and alcohol abuse control officer and legal officer. He amassed over 2,000 flight hours in Marine jets. Jerry also brings over 25 years leadership experience in medical practice management and non-profit. He is very active in the community, currently serving as the Alabama State Council of MOAA Secretary. He is a past Commandant for the Marine Corps League, past President of the Medical Group Manager’s Association and Program Manager for Toys for Tots.

Mike Dow

Vice President

Mike is the Executive Director of the GulfQuest National Maritime Museum and serves on the boards of a number of philanthropic organizations, specializing in public-private partnerships. Mike served as the Mayor of Mobile for 16 years from 1989-2005. Prior to that, he was the EVP at Centralite and QMS. He earned an MBA in Finance from the University of South Alabama. Mike served as a Sergeant in the 173rd Airborne Brigade’s 335th Assault Helicopter Company (Cowboys) and 173rd Casper (Ghost) Helicopter Platoon for three consecutive tours as a machine gunner in Vietnam. He is both a passionate advocate for Veterans and those in need.

Ted Langley, CPA

Treasurer

Ted is a CPA and forensic accounting expert, with over 30 years’ experience in tax and accounting. He currently provides consulting services to corporations, non-profit organizations and high net worth individuals.  He has assisted several companies in expanding to foreign markets and establishing overseas affiliates and has provided expert support in both civil and criminal litigation. Prior to starting his consulting business, he spent 8 years at Healthsouth and helped to recover over $525 million and federal taxes and interest in his first 3 years there. Ted also worked at QMS, Blount, Deloitte, Haskins & Sells and the IRS. Ted received his B.S. in Accounting from Auburn University at Montgomery.

Henry Esham

Board Member

Henry is a dentist in Fairhope, AL and earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry in 2013. He served over 22 years in the military, including nine years as a Naval Aviator (commissioned in 2001) and five as a military police officer in the Alabama National Guard. He completed several deployments, flying missions in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom and the Global War on Terrorism. Henry continues to serve in the U.S. Navy Reserve and is committed to serving his country and community and ensuring Veterans receive the best care available.

Deborah Walker

Board Member

Deborah Walker is a 30-year, Air Force retired, Chief Master Sergeant, who has serves as Director of Training the Alabama Disabled American Veterans. As a result, she helps the organization’s 19,000 Veterans find a path to a richer, more fulfilling life. Debb is also nationally-recognized for her leadership developing and implementing the Department of Defense (DoD) integrated healthcare delivery system called TRICARE, serving as its training administrator for all armed services. But she has other talents, too. Debb performed in the Air Force’s entertainment showcase, “Tops in Blue,” before more than 250,000 military personnel and their families worldwide. Debb has earned her MBA and continues to volunteer for Veteran-related organizations.

Reginald Eggleston

Board Member

Reginald has over 25 years of experience in public education and was recently named CEO of the Montgomery Public Schools takeover. He also has 29 years’ military experience, serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn. He currently serves on the Joint Chief Chiefs of Staff in the U.S. Army Reserves. Reginald holds a Masters in Special Education from the University of Alabama-Birmingham, an Educational Specialist Degree from Auburn University in Montgomery, and a Doctor of Education from Nova Southeastern University.

John Kilpatrick, LGSW

Founder (Ex-Officio/Non-Voting)

John has a bold vision to change how Veterans can return to normal lives after combat. With 32 years’ military service, including 12 years as an intelligence analyst in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, 22 years as a Medical Service Corps Officer in the U.S. Army Reserve, and four deployments, he has experienced first-hand the challenges service members and their families can face returning to civilian life. He founded Veterans Recovery Resources to offer a new approach for those needing support. In 2016, John was awarded the Order of Military Medical Merit by the Army Medical Department for his outstanding character and service. He earned his Masters in Social Work from the University of Alabama.
