Primary Medical Care

services: primary medical care

In an effort to provide the best care possible and an opportunity to streamline the number of providers you may need to consult, Veterans Recovery Resources provides primary care services including health and wellness, check-ups and routine medical care.

We offer these services because there is a proven link between physical health and other aspects of health, including mental, emotional, social and spiritual domains. For example, chronic pain and physical injuries often experienced in military populations may have an impact on how much you want to engage in other parts of your life. Conversely, psychological trauma may impact your ability to sleep and may worsen physical pain and other ailments. The two go hand-in-hand.

The first step we take is a thorough health assessment. Obtaining an accurate medical and deployment history is essential to providing accurate diagnoses and the appropriate treatments to help you reach your health goals. Vietnam-era and Post 9/11-era Veterans, for example, have a higher risk of exposure to contaminants that may impact health conditions. In addition, military populations face other challenges that can lead to overmedication.

We are also able to provide routine medical care for both men and women to address short-term needs and the prevention of longer-term health conditions such as diabetes, smoking cessation, heart health and more. Our primary care team can refer you to other providers and specialist on our team, who focus on physical therapy, occupational therapy, individual and group counseling, peer support and more.
